Description
35th-year Anniversary Report 2014: the challenges continue
Since 2004, the British economy has undergone a full boom and bust cycle, leading to austerity and cuts from 2008 which have had a serious impact on our work and the women we serve. We have witnessed the rolling back of the state and the privatisation of services, cuts in legal aid, the introduction of a commissioning culture in state funding and a move away from specialist services like SBS, paradoxically towards ‘faith-based’services, in a bid to impose financial cuts under the ideological cloak of ‘integration and cohesion’.
